3. Recap of Episode 8
Episode 8 of ‘Migi and Dali’ is titled “Two ≠ One”. Migi has been staying in Akiyama’s house for three days as Hitori. Akiyama brings his food to his room to feed Hitori. He wonders if Hitori is being abused in the Sonoyama household. Before he can ask Hitori questions, Akiyama’s sister enters the room to tell him that a friend is visiting.
Akiyama is confused as his only friend is Hitori, and he is already with him. Akiyama opens the door to find Hitori again, who is actually Dali. Dali tells him he left from the window. He asks Akiyama to make him tea to buy some time to talk to Migi.
Migi is hiding in a closet. Dali tries to convince him to come home so they can take revenge. However, Migi tells him to leave. Akiyama comes back, so Migi has to go back to being Hitori. Akiyama asks Hitori to teach him when suddenly, there is a noise from the closet.
Akiyama gets up to check, but Dali punches him to distract him. He tells Akiyama that he did not mean to hurt him and is doing everything for their mom. In reality, he is actually saying this to Migi. Migi realized that Sali was Dali. However, Akiyama interrupts by saying he should set his true self free, which triggers something in Migi.
Akiyama’s sister calls him out yelling, and in a brief moment of isolation, Migi throws Dali in the closet and locks him. Migi tells Dali he no longer cares about revenge and will not take orders from anyone. Dali swears to avenge his mother alone.
Halloween is next week, and Dali plots Eiji’s demise. However, Dali can barely make it past the day without Migi. While bathing with his father, Dali realizes that, in theory, one is stronger than two. All he has to do is to erase the Migi inside of him. Dali dresses as a blood-spitting mosquito on Halloween, and people get scared.
Eiji’s costume is mediocre this year, but Dali needs him to win. He starts telling people a made-up story that moves their hearts. The announcer is confused when everyone starts throwing money on the stage. With tears, a lady explains how Eiji is a troubadour, a poet at heart. Eiji wins the contest.
Dali has planned Eiji’s death, but he needs to take the throne for it. However, Eiji refuses to sit on the throne. The announcer tells the person dressed as ‘He used to have wings’ to take the throne instead. It is actually Migi beneath the mask, and if he takes the throne, he will die.
Dali runs to save Migi, but he is too slow. The weighted pumpkin Dali propped above the throne falls. Dali looks up teary-eyed, only to find Eiji bleeding out on the ground instead. Eiji protected Migi and got hurt instead.

Migi and Dali (Migi to Dali) is a manga series by Nami Sano. It was serialized in Enterbrain’s Harta magazine from July 2017 to November 2021 and an anime adaptation by Frontier Engine and Geek Toys is under production.
The story follows the twins Migi and Dali who swore revenge on their mother’s killer. They are adopted by a childless middle-aged couple and work under the name Hitori to prevent others finding out that they’re twins and figuring out their identities.
