Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the biggest moves played by the company.
Along with the collaboration with EA, Xbox’s Game Pass will also offer Bethesda’s games, with a high chance of future titles coming only on Xbox and PC.
Phil Spencer, the vice-president of gaming at Microsoft, stated that Bethesda’s “iconic franchises,” including the highly anticipated upcoming games like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6, will be added to Game Pass as well.
Now, it seems that the Slayer of Demons is about to join the roster as well.
Yesterday, a tweet from Xbox Game Pass’s account suggested a possible hint towards an upcoming game for the Game Pass.
It was a fake memo from Melissa McGamepass, a fictional character, of course, and reads as follows:
Upon closer inspection, people quickly noticed that the first letter of each sentence in the image cleverly spelled out “Look Below.”
But look below what?
There weren’t exactly any comments, news, or some form of follow-up tweets that could suggest what they are hinting at.
Afterwards, someone decided to take a closer look at the image itself, and after playing a little with the colors of the image, just below the name Melissa was written: “THE SLAYER IS COMING.”
There is only one Slayer around the neighbourhood, and that’s our protagonist from DOOM Eternal! However, the date for when it’ll arrive is yet to be revealed.
Nevertheless, it’s time to cue some metal tracks and dance around the demons while obliterating them all, one by one!
Another interesting thing to note here is the possibility of the original DOOM hitting the Game Pass and not just 2020’s sequel.
Considering how Microsoft owns id Software and, in turn, Bethesda now, it won’t be too much of a hassle for them to release the two games along with other modern-classics that were previously missing from the library of Game Pass.
Regardless, as it stands, Microsoft is certainly the one taking the lead right now, but how it all plays out in the end, we’re yet to see!
