Kemono Michi Rise Up is an Isekai & Comedy anime. But what sets it apart from most Isekai anime is the unwillingness of the main character, Genzou Shibata, to fight the threats of the world he is transported to. The first season of the anime comprised 12 episodes and concluded in December 2019.
The second season of Kemono Michi Rise up is expected to be released in Fall 2020 or early 2021.
The story of the anime revolves around Genzou Shibata, an undefeated professional wrestler, who goes by the name Animal Mask. As is the setting for all Isekai anime, he is transported to a different reality. Carmilla, the Princess of the new reality, is responsible for this teleportation as she needs help to defeat wild beasts that have infested her world.
Knocking her out with a German Suplex, Shibata refuses her call for help and leaves the castle as it is against his moral code to hurt animals. Looking for a new life, Shibata runs into a wolf-girl named Shigure and opens a beast hunter business with her. Except that he doesn’t kill the beasts, he tames them and befriends them to realise his true dream: to own a pet shop.
The first season of the anime was directed by Kazuya Miura and produced by Studio ENGI. It was a hit amongst Isekai viewers, thanks to its absurd comedy, fresh concept and satisfactory fight scenes. The second season’s release date has not yet been announced.
However, with 5 volumes of the manga already released, fans can expect the release date to be Fall 2020 or early 2021. The English sub and dub of the first season is available on Funimation for streaming.
