Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Donnie Creed will be returning tougher, better, and more jacked this season.
The first look at Creed III shows Jordan shirtless and ready to embroil in a smashing fight (and win it). Though it’s in black-and-white, the actor’s stunning physique is apparent, especially with his toned muscles on full display.
The Creed III poster stood royally at the Licensing Expo event in Las Vegas. With its golden minimalist style, the MGM logo catches the viewer’s attention first. Beneath the logo, stands a shirtless, dominating picture of Donnie Creed.
Creed II ended with Donnie going off against Viktor Drago, Ivan Drago’s son. Both Rocky and Donnie have a painful history with Ivan—he was the one who killed Apollo in a bout.
However, Donnie (of course) emerges victorious by playing Viktor’s weakness to his advantage. Towards the end of the fight, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) says, “It’s your time,” and sits outside the ring, which is a great hint at the legacy being passed on to Jordan.
As a spinoff and sequel to the Rocky franchise, Creed has exceeded expectations from fans, as both Jordan and Stallone shine bright in the roles of mentee and mentor.
The Creed trilogy lays the foundation for Stallone’s Rocky franchise passing the baton to another fierce and determined boxer.
It also fits into the announcement of Stallone stepping down from the franchise. Creed III will be the first movie made without the legendary actor.
Details about the threequel are kept under wraps, but the way the Creed franchise has survived the weight of Rocky’s legacy, the audience does not mind watching the blockbuster movie directly on their screen.
With a major competitor down and a family to look forward to, it will be interesting to see what challenges the creators spring up for Adonis Creed.
Creed III will be released in November 2022.
