Mission: Impossible 7 UK shoot halts after a member of the production tested positive for Covid. The shoot will stop for 14 days.
It is unclear how many people involved in the production tested positive. Safety protocols are being followed, with the affected crew members reportedly self-isolating.
A spokesperson for Paramount said,
We have temporarily halted production on Mission: Impossible 7 until June 14 due to positive coronavirus test results during routine testing. We are following all safety protocols and will continue to monitor the situation.
A source close to the production confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter. Pandemic-related lockdowns impacted the film during its early days in February 2020.
In December, audio leaked from the set where Tom Cruise was heard yelling at some of the crew members after they violated Covid production regulations.
Previously, Cruise had also paid around $671,207 (£500,000) for the movie’s cast and crew to isolate on an old cruise ship in order to follow strict COVID isolation rules.
He has been very serious about maintaining safety protocols while shooting amidst the pandemic. Hence, despite so many precautions, a crew member testing positive is surprising.
Produced by Paramount and Skydance, Mission: Impossible 7 is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who directed the franchise’s Rogue Nation and Fallout. McQuarrie will also be directing the eighth installment.
Cruise returns as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, with cast members including Rebecca Ferguson, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, and Henry Czerny.
There’s no news of whether this delay might push the release date even further. The film’s lengthy shoot is almost at its end.
Considering that it has only been shut down for a week, the release date should remain the same unless further delays occur. Mission: Impossible 7 is set to hit the movie theatres on May 27, 2022.
