Another post-apocalyptic mecha-themed anime has joined the list, and honestly, I can’t get enough of this genre. Megaton Musashi finally gave us an official date for its anime after years of its initial announcement.
Fans of the game have been desperately waiting for the anime. These fans are now joined by those who became invested in the show after the PV dropped.
Level 5 dropped the first PV for the Megaton Musashi anime that is premiering on October 1, 2021.
The PV gives us a detailed view of the giant robot called Musashi piloted by three people. It then introduces us to all of the characters.
The most exciting part is that we see the Musashi robot piloted by the main characters Yamato, Ryogo, and Teru in action. They’re seen fighting the vicious alien race which took over the planet and wiped off more than 90% of the human population.
Fearing the alien race called Dracters, human shelters were made to keep the remaining population safe. The twist in the story is that people of shelter Ixia have their memories erased.
The inhabitants of that shelter now live a peaceful life, oblivious of the reality. But at the same time, teenagers from here are chosen to pilot the robots and fight the aliens. It sounds kinda crazy, doesn’t it?
Moreover, the PV also previews the show’s opening theme called ‘MUSASHI’ performed by Zuma.
The anime is somewhat similar to Darling in the FRANXX and 86 -Eighty Six-. With the same theme as those anime but characters with a bit more intriguing personalities, Megaton Musashi has the potential to pull this off.
So, if you’re still not over your love of ‘teenage soldiers fighting post-apocalyptic battles for the world’ trope, then you’re gonna love this one.
About Megaton Musashi
Megaton Musashi is an anime project based on a game by the same name. Level 5 founder and president Akihiro Hino is credited as the anime’s chief director and original creator, and is also writing and supervising the anime’s scripts.
The story takes place after 90 percent of humanity wiped out due to an invasion. Survivors live in a shelter where their lives are monitored, and memories of the invasion erased.
Three teenagers from the shelter are chosen to pilot three machines that combine to form the Musashi robot, made out of a material named Megatronium alloy.
