Although he knew it was coming, Chief’s death was a huge loss for Joe. History repeated itself, and once again, Joe lost someone whom he cared for.
Joe decided to keep the promise he made to Chief and went on his next journey to face the past that he left behind. As he expected, things have changed a lot in these four years, and everyone hates him for his absence when they needed him.
Can he return to his ‘home’ that he once abandoned? We bring you the latest episode updates for this anime.
1. Episode 6 Speculation
Joe’s day as a Megalo Boxer is over, but I am sure he wants to keep chasing his dream till the very end. This way, he can continue the legacy and the concept of home that Chief has passed on him.
Sachio blames Joe and his passion for Megalo Boxing for their pops’ death. He has taken up Megalo Boxing himself, with the only dream of outshining Joe.
He may be a prodigy based on his age but still has a long way to go. As Joe said, “You can’t survive long if you keep fighting like this.” He needed this reality check to know exactly where he stands.
I think the dispute between the two brothers will cool down gradually. We may even get to see Joe training Sachio and becoming his second.

3. Episode 6 Recap
Chief’s death makes a significant impact on Joe’s life and his way of thinking. He decides not to run away from his past and settle things with everyone.
However, this isn’t as easy as it sounds. He keeps remembering the family he had and how his ambitious mindset ruined everything. The episode is filled with flashbacks of his past.
It takes us back to the days when Gansaku was on the verge of death, and all doctors had given up hope. They assured them that he had few days to live but might live a little longer if subjected to the most advanced procedures.
He decided to bet on that slim probability and agreed for a match. Winning that match will give him enough money to conduct the treatment he wanted for his dad. He couldn’t fight a match all of a sudden after a two-year break, so he took up intense training.
While he was busy with match preparation, the old man’s health deteriorated more and more. Sachio begged him to give up on the match and spend some time with Gansaku before he dies.
He was too naive to give up on his ambitious mindset. In the end, neither did he win the match nor could he save the old man’s life. Sachio blamed him for the death and hated him throughout his childhood.
Now that Joe is back after four years, the first thing Sachio does is beating him into a pulp. Such a harsh reunion shakes Joe; he was definitely holding back, but the fact that everyone still hates him so much is hard to swallow.
Coming to Sachio’s life in these years, he and the other children had to leave their house after a typhoon. Sachio took up Megalo Box with the solitary dream of outshining his brother.
After carefully observing Sachio’s match, Joe concludes that he is still nowhere near to perfection.
