1. How to defeat Erlang Shen in Black Myth: Wukong
In Black Myth: Wukong, Erlang Shen, a powerful two-phase boss, awaits you in the Secret Area of Mount Mei, accessible only after completing the game.
In Chapter 3’s Pagoda Realm, interact with Bodhisattva Maitreya to access a hidden passageway to the Secret Mount Mei area, where you will battle Erlang, The Sacred Divinity. Defeating him will lead to a battle against the Four Heavenly Kings. Once victorious, you’ll encounter Erlang Shen again, this time in his lion form.

2. Boss Fight Location
To reach Erlang Shen, complete the secret areas in all chapters except 3 and 6, finish the Treasure Hunter’s Quest in Chapter 3, and defeat the Final Boss.
Next, to access the Great Pagoda Keeper’s Shrine, start from the Snow-Veiled Trail Keeper’s Shrine and cross the nearby bridge. Here, turn left and continue until you reach a wall. Interact with the wall to enter the shrine.
Climb the stairs to trigger a cutscene, which will transport you to Mount Mei for the final battle with Erlang Shen.
3. Combat Tactics
The first phase involves breaking his stance bar that is above his HP bar.
- Attack him continuously to deplete the bar, causing him to stagger and become vulnerable to multiple hits.
- Utilize the A Pluck of Many spell to create clones, which can help land enough hits to stagger the boss and deliver critical damage.
- However, avoid using the Transform spell, as Erlang can dispel it, reverting you to your normal form.
As Erlang’s HP drops to 70%, he will replenish his stance bar and diversify his move set, incorporating a massive axe and lightning attacks.
- Erlang’s Thunder-infused attacks can cause Shock, increasing damage taken. Equip Shock-Quelling Powder to mitigate this risk.
- When Erlang levitates, he’ll rain a storm of swords. Hold the deflect button to repel the attack, preserving your stance and avoiding damage.
- Dodge and weave to avoid attacks and counterattacks after his moves finish and study his attack patterns to land hits effectively.
At 50% HP, Erlang will create a clone, and they will start shooting beams.
- Dodge all attacks and wait for the clone to disappear, then use the Plantain Fan to trap Erlang Shen inside the vortex.
- Destroy his stance bar and aim to get his HP to around 30%. Use Cloud Step and Rock Solid to deflect strikes and launch counterattacks.
A long cutscene will play out once the first phase is over, leading to the battle with the Four Heavenly Kings.
The rematch against Erlang Shen occurs after defeating the Four Heavenly Kings, where he transforms into a powerful lion, and you assume the form of the Stone Monkey.
