Meet Marvel’s Teenage Superheroine Ms. Marvel: Trailer Out Now!

Marvel Studios released the first trailer of its upcoming series, Ms. Marvel, and it is all set to release on Disney+ on June 8, 2022.

Created by Bisha K. Ali, the series will star Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani teenager living in Jersey City. Kamala Khan is known as Ms. Marvel and must balance her life as a regular 16-year-old and a savior of the universe in this upcoming MCU venture.

Kamala Khan was first introduced in the comics in 2013, by Marvel writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona. She can be aptly described as a comic book fan within a comic book. According to Marvel writer Wilson,

I think there’re some characters who are very much set up for the big screen; they’re very naturally sort of cinematic. But with Ms. Marvel, we really weren’t interested in creating something that had very obvious film potential.

I was really leaning—and I know Adrian [Alphona] and Takeshi [Miyazawa] and all of the artists as well—were really leaning into the comic book-ness of this character. She’s got very comic-booky powers. God bless them trying to bring that to live action.

In the trailer, Kamala is introduced as a regular teenager living in Jersey City who is an avid reader of comics and a huge fan of the Avengers, particularly Captain Marvel.

The six-episode series is expected to set the stage for Ms. Marvel’s introduction to the MCU and for her to join The Marvels, the sequel to Captain Marvel.

With “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd playing, the teenage superhero managed to catch the attention of various Marvel fans with her vibes.

With Iman Vellani playing the titular role, the supporting cast of the series includes Saagar Shaikh, Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be serving as lead directors.

In the upcoming The Marvels, Ms. Marvel will be expected to join her idol, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) along with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).

Ms. Marvel will premiere on Disney+ on June 8, 2022. Meanwhile, you can watch other MCU movies and series on Disney+.

Kamala is a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American from Jersey City who writes superhero fan fiction, particularly about her idol, Captain Marvel. Having dreamed about becoming a superhero herself, Kamala  discovers she has superpowers and dons the mask of Ms. Marvel.

Ms. Marvel will serve as a setup for the film The Marvels (2022), in which Vellani will reprise her role as Kamala. The series is produced by Marvel Studios, with Ali serving as head writer and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah leading the directing team. Iman Vellani stars as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, with Saagar Shaikh, Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur also starring.
