Dr. Stone’s latest chapter, titled “First Team,” reveals the true meaning behind the series title. “Dr. Stone” refers to the petrification device due to the healing capacity of the de-petrification process.
The chapter starts with Senku’s team returning to Ishigami village after obtaining the petrification device, platinum, and some new friends.
With their plan to heal Tsukasa’s injuries from the fight against Hyoga, Taiju comes up with an apt name for the petrification device.
Given the healing powers of the de-petrification process, the device was given the name “Dr. Stone”.
This explanation of the manga’s title clubbed with the reveal of the series-finale villain hints after the story being just around the corner.
Since the petrification device was used on a vast range, it had almost been depleted of all its charges.
The little that was left was used to revive Tsukasa and repair his injuries, thus making the device useless for the time being.
In a moment of team-building, everyone from 3700 years ago paints their face in the same pattern rock had been stuck before.
They do it as a war-paint, swearing not to take it off till the Kingdom of Science has successfully won against the Why-man.
The chapter ends with Senku ready to explain the logistics behind building a rocket.
