It looks like Neo and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Morpheus need an extra pair of hands to help kill The Matrix. First introduced as a blue-haired character in the trailer, new stills of Matrix: Resurrection by EW shows the leads teaming up with Bugs.
Jessica Henwick is into her character one hundred percent (and on Morpheus’ side), as she dons a full black suit with round pitch-black goggles. Morpheus stands beside her, face-up, eyes forward, hands back, and the signature round goggles too.
The only one who looks like he has aged is our star, Neo or Thomas Anderson, an iconic role by Keanu Reeves.
While the most exciting teaser is of Bugs, Neo and Morpheus together, the other teaser released shows Morpheus and Neo in the last place where they had their first fight, after Neo “learned” Kung Fu in Matrix 1.

Besides knowing Bugs can punch and fight her way out (basically being great at combat, all thanks to the trailer), not much has been revealed about the character. Fans’ imaginations can run wild about her role in the fourth Matrix installment. Oh, and she also sports the unforgettable white rabbit tattoo.
After the second and third installments fail to align with the audience’s expectations, it will be difficult to assess the fans’ thoughts about the fourth installment.
There are multiple things that fans can look forward to – Neo returns into the normal world as Thomas Anderson, Trinity (thankfully) isn’t dead, and an all-new Morpheus essayed by Abdul-Mateen II.
Abdul-Mateen II, in EW’s interview, called Matrix 4 a “mind trip.” Without revealing much, he did hint at the future the first movie warned about, saying, “we may have become that future.”
The Matrix: Resurrections will premiere on December 22, 2021, in theaters and on HBO Max.
