Ores are as essential in the world of Once Human as they are in our world. Maybe even more! The Ore mining will start around the time you take down the first Monolith Boss. The first Ore you come into contact with is the simple but all-utility Iron Ore.
1. Where to find Iron Ore in Once Human?
Iron Ore deposits can be found scattered across the Iron River beginner region in Once Human. Crafting a Bronze Pickaxe is a mandatory prerequisite for mining Iron Ore. It can be unlocked through the Memetics Menu.
Mining is hard work- even in the eventful world of Once Human. Once you have cleared the initial stages of the game, you will realize the importance and need for Iron Ore.
That is when you need to be fully prepared to mine them. The Bronze Pickaxe is your best buddy at this time. You can collect and use your Meme points to unlock the following- Smelting Essentials, Bronze Crafting, and Bronze Pickaxes.
Iron River is not for the early gamers to venture into. You want to be higher than level 20 to run around looking for ore deposits to mine. There is also a main story progress prerequisite before unlocking the Bronze Pickaxe.
2. How to craft a Bronze Pickaxe?
To unlock the Bronze Pickaxe, you first need to upgrade the related Memetics. Use the Meme points and go to the Memetics Tab to unlock the following-
- Smelting Essentials (gets you started)
- Copper Pickaxe (because there’s always a trainee level)
- Bronze Crafting (to utilize Bronze that you obtain)
- Bronze Pickaxe (our trusty mining buddy)
When all of these have been unlocked then you can proceed to craft a Bronze Pickaxe at the Supplies Workbench in your Base. You need the following materials-
- 7 Bronze Ingots
- 5 Logs
- 1 Raw Hide
3. Locating Iron Ore Deposits
The name Iron River probably came up due to the large amount of Iron Ore deposits they have in the area. It is a no-brainer that Ore and this place are connected. It is very close to the beginner area, so you will have no trouble reaching this place.
To get started, equip the freshly made Bronze Pickaxe and get on your motorcycle (if you don’t have one already, get one- they are cool. Head to the north of the Dayton Wetlands.
All around in this region you can easily spot huge chunks of stone that look like broken boulders. They have an amber rusty-gray color to them, and these are- bingo, Iron Ores.
To begin the epic journey of a miner, go to the stone and start mining away with your Bronze Pickaxe. The region has no dearth of these Ores, so you will get everything you need and more.
4. Tips for the Miners
Does the Iron River region have the highest concentration of iron Ore deposits in the entire world of Once Human? Yes. But is it the only place you can collect Iron Ore from? No. There are other places where you can collect Iron Ore.
These places are comparatively higher leveled. They have different Ores available as well like Aluminium and Tungsten and even the rare Gold.
The areas are-
- Chalk Peak
- Black Fell
- Red Sands
Be cautious if you are in these areas at the early levels of the game (which you are if you’re mining away at Iron Ore). The required levels for these areas range from 25-30 or even more. It is best to cautiously navigate this area. But if you can be sneaky, there are many Iron deposits to be found.
Stock up on consumables to replenish your health; ideally, carry a sniper (because you’re weak, bruh) to whittle away at enemies from a distance. Always set up a camp nearby, or you’ll have to travel a long way to get there again.
Although recommended levels are 25-30 generally in these areas, even if you are below 20, you can still manage to traverse these high-level areas with a bit of skill and caution.
