3. Episode 4 Recap
The qualifying round of the second Divine Visionary Candidate Exam, known as Deadervant’s Haunt, begins. All the contestants are transported to the jungle, where the round will take place.
One of the candidates encounters a Deadervant and uses magic to defend himself, but he is too late to learn that magic doesn’t work on them. He gets disqualified.
The other candidates realize that the test checks how well one can do when they have to retreat and protect their lives. However, Mash goes the other way, badly injuring one of the Deadervants in a single punch (One-Punch Mash).
The Deadervant stands up again as it heals quickly. Mash realizes he will have to run away and find the key. While running away from the monster, his size gets decreased by a spell.
He meets Max (he reduced Mash’s size) and thanks him for saving him. Max offers to make an alliance with Mash, and the latter agrees. He tells Mash to follow one of the monsters to find the ballon holding the key.
They do the same and come around the dark balloon they were trying to find. However, touching the ballon or its handle in any way produces a loud sound.
Mash and Max deduce a plan. They break the bellows holding the ballon, and Mash uses breakdance to fill it with a huge amount of air, ultimately causing the ballon to burst, and they finally get the key.
After them, many of the other candidates, including Dot and Lance, obtain the keys. Dot meets Finn, who is too afraid to move. Mash offers the key to Max, but Max tells him he just wanted to help him out because of what Rayne told him about Mash.
Mash keeps the key and exits the jungle. Just after he leaves, Max is attacked by Carpaccio Luo-yang of Orca. Max gets ready to fight him. All the candidates gather in the ring.
Max comes out from the jungle, completely wounded and blood-soaked. Everyone thinks he is the final qualifying candidate, but he falls down, and out comes Carpaccio, the last qualifying candidate.
He calls Max a weakling and puts his leg on his head. Mash tells him to stop, but Carpaccio is too arrogant to hear him. He throws water on Mash’s face, but Mash prevents getting wet by using the water to make a protein shake.
Carpaccio is pretty annoyed with him, but the organizers stop the quarreling and reveal the details for the next exam. The next exam, “The Life Crystal,” will be a team battle. Each team with three candidates.
Each candidate will get a crystal and will have to smash the other team’s crystals to win. However, Dot and Mash break their crystals as soon as they get them. Leaving Finn’s crystal to be protected.
Everyone is escorted to the exam stage and land at separate locations. Finn is frustrated because he is left alone again.
