3. Recap of Episode 4:
The Duelo match continues with Mash sitting homesick on the floor, wondering why he’s even there. The audience begins getting frustrated with Mash, wondering why he won’t fly; even the captain comes down to get Mash in the game and to fly.
As the points begin piling up against them, the captain gets tackled extremely hard and is thrown out of the game. Mash picks up his broom in anger and jumps high up, thrashing his legs midair to keep himself up.
He grabs the ball and throws it at an incredible speed through the hoop but with enough spin to curve and return to his hand. He keeps repeating this until he maxes out the scoreboard bringing the win to the game and getting silver coins as a reward.
The next day, Mash is overwhelmed with people all around him trying to study or go for Duelo practice. They are interrupted by Lance Crown, the first ranker in the entrance exams, who approaches Mash and immediately pulls out a pot that traps all his friends.
Meeting him in a forest later, Lance reveals his two silver coins and offers to bet their silver coins in a match. Mash readily accepts the conditions, and Lance drops a massive gravity spell that entirely clears the field. Mash tries to jump to him and land a punch but is sent to the floor using his gravity spell.
No human withstand this gravity, but Mash manages to pull out the ground under him and send him flying back. After an excruciating conversation about Lance’s sister complex, he threatens to drop the pot over a cliff to get an opening to attack Mash.
Lance has a flashback to his little sister, Anna, who would constantly heal him as a child. She was affected by an incurable disease that would strip her of her magic mark, meaning they had to hand the girl over to the government.
He drops the pot and speeds it up with gravity, but Mash is much too fast even to comprehend as he catches the bottle and gets back up instantly. He finds that the pot is a fake and realizes that Lance isn’t a bad guy at all but merely just trying his best to get his sister back.
Lance gives the pot back and his silver coin since he technically lost the bet. Surrounded by his friends hugging and thanking him persistently, Mash regrets his decisions.
