Aki and Makabe’s little drama act takes a frighteningly serious turn in episode 2 of Masamune-kun’s Revenge R, titled “The Princess’s Confession.”

As Muriel tails the two around the park observing their conversations and acts of a Japanese romance, Aki finds the time right to talk of her past. However, as she narrates the story of a wholesome friendship with Masamune, he remembers a different ending.

Shouting at Aki and accusing her of acting like the victim when he was thrown out and abandoned by her, Masamune causes her to get up and storm off. However, now that things are in the open, they can finally get to mend the past.

Aki and Masamune are now in a big fight after the outburst at the park, and they are unlikely to want anything to do with the other. It is currently on Aki to talk to Masamune, and not the other way around since, technically, she is the one in the wrong.

However, since she had directly gone to Yoshino for comfort, it is entirely unknown how this will end. There is a possibility that she remains reasonable throughout the talk and convinces her to talk to Makabe and finally get his side of the story entirely out in the open so that they can come to a reasonable conclusion,

Kanetsugu lays on his accusations as Koiwai buckles to the floor after being caught secretly meeting with Masamune. However, she merely gets up and walks away, telling him to do whatever he wants, but the second he mentions her parents, she immediately stops.

Meanwhile, Masamune and Aki are stuck at a crossroads while the French mademoiselle waits to see what a Japanese romance looks like. However, her blunt nature is opposite to the typical Japanese culture, and she even tries to add her dubs on top.

In the middle of the walk, Aki stumbles to the ground in hunger as her stomach starts grumbling. Makabe quickly runs to the store, gets her a sandwich on the bench, and suggests feeding each other since Muriel observes them exceptionally intently.

The situation turns highly awkward, and neither of them can keep the act up anymore, and Aki wants to eat. However, a dog intervenes in the case, breaking the tension entirely, and they start talking just like they usually do while she speaks of her childhood.

Her parents had been fighting all the time, and the only friends she had around the mansion were just the dogs in the courtyard. Recalling back to the first day she met Masamune, an actual friend, she had refused presents and such since it would just trigger more fights between her parents.

Aki had made a big plan to get back at Masamune’s bullies; it was the only thing she could affect since there was no way to stop her parents from separating. At the end of the story, however, Makabe realizes she thinks that the old Masamune is Gasou and doesn’t realize it’s him. Although, the entire story seems completely different, and he remembers a very different ending.

In his memory, when he shouted to Aki to save him, she had merely just thrown him out. This causes an emotional outburst as Makabe shouts out what she did, and Aki gets up and storms off. This leaves Muriel alone in the park but with plenty of content to base a manga on.

Masamune-kun’s Revenge is a manga by Hazuki Takeoka and Tiv which was originally serialized in Monthly Comic Rex Magazine by Ichijinsha from October 12 to June 2018. It received a 12-episode anime in 2017. A second season will be released in July 2023.

The series revolves around Masamune, a guy who used to be chubby and after getting bullied by Aki Adagaki, he decided to transform himself. Cut to high school when he has become slim, studious, and athletic. Now, Aki can’t recognize him.

Thus, Masamune swears that he will make Aki fall in love with him and then reject her so that he can take revenge.
