It seems 2021 is already better than 2020- Marvel has preponed the filming of Secret Invasion. The series was announced recently as part of Marvel’s television shows for Disney+. It was scheduled to start filming later in the year but has been brought up to April. Samuel. L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn star in Secret Invasion.
Not much is known about the series other than Marvel’s official synopsis during the show’s announcement. It will center on Nick Fury (Samuel. L. Jackson) and the Skrulls, an alien race who were introduced in Captain Marvel, which have been infiltrating Earth for hundreds of years. Ben Mendelsohn stars as Talos, the leader of the Skrulls.
It is a very busy year for Marvel since a number of shows are coming up on Disney+ and Spider-Man 3 and Thor: Love and Thunder will be released theatrically. Secret Invasion is supposed to be one of the biggest crossovers in Marvel comics. Kevin Feige has revealed that Marvel wishes “to do something different than we’ve done before,” and the preponing is a sign that they might deliver on that.
If Secret Invasion starts shooting in April, it will begin just behind Moon Knight and She-Hulk. The series will drop sometime in 2022, before the release of Captain Marvel 2, since the events of Secret Invasion will e directly related to the latter.
Are you excited about Secret Invasion? Which superheroes do you think will feature in the crossover?
