The final episode of Secret Invasion delivers a Super-Skrull showdown, a long-awaited execution, and several other twists.
Previously, Gravik trapped Nick Fury in a dire dilemma in episode 5 of Secret Invasion with the help of impostor Rhodey. They’ve nearly persuaded the president to initiate a counterattack on Russia after the assault on Ritson’s convoy. It would trigger World War III, as well as annihilate the inhabitants of New Skrullos.
Fury was given the opportunity to prevent it but at a huge cost. Gravik says he will cancel the strike in return for “the Harvest, “a compilation of the Avengers’ DNA from the Battle of Earth in Endgame, so he can become the ultimate Super-Skrull.
Secret Invasion ends with Gravik’s death at the hands of G’iah, who becomes a Super-Skrull with all the abilities of the Harvest. Skrull Rhodey is also killed by Fury, prompting Ritson to declare war on all alien races on Earth. Fury then rejoins the S.A.B.E.R. space station, but he brings Priscilla to broker a peace deal with the Kree.
Gravik is deceived into believing he can remove Fury once he acquires the abilities of the Harvest. Still, it was actually G’iah impersonating him while Fury dispatched Rhodey’s team to the hospital with Sonya’s help. G’iah ultimately slays him with a powerful energy blast through the chest.
As Fury begins to sway the president into thinking that Rhodey is a Skrull, Rhodey attempts to seize a gun and kill him. But Fury fires at him first. As he collapses to the floor, he reverts to his alien shape. Meanwhile, G’iah frees all of the humans trapped in fracking pods, including Everett Ross and the real Rhodey.
Meanwhile, Ritson overreacts to the recent events and urges Congress to approve an emergency bill that labels all “off-world born species as enemy combatants,” which Fury characterizes as “a sure way to lose re-election.” With the US trying to exterminate them all, Sonya proposes G’iah a bargain where she says they can exploit each other to make the planet safer.
In the final scene, Fury prepares to return to S.A.B.E.R. when Priscilla, aka Varra, appears. He discloses that the Kree are now willing to negotiate peace with the Skrulls, but he wants her to accompany him as she’s their best diplomat.
The episode ends as Priscilla admits to Fury that she will always love him no matter what she is. The two then depart into space together to negotiate peace with the Skrulls.
The Secret Invasion finale has no post-credits or mid-credits scene, so we can consider this the end of the story.
