Just when we had given up hopes of getting an update from Marvel on Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, they came up with its new trailer. The sassy-looking trailer centers around a genius adolescent girl who brews a dinosaur in her lab and uses it as her sidekick to fight bad guys!
We all wanted to have a secret laboratory in our basement in our childhood. Lunella Lafayette accomplishes our collective dream and even manages to cook up an entire T-Rex in her lab. The experiment was actually supposed to do something else, but a failed endeavor birthing a friendly dinosaur is always welcome!
Lunella reacts to the unexpected arrival of a dinosaur exactly as expected; she loves it! The beast starts showing its actual utility when it helps her fight the supervillains in the city.
Needless to say, no one takes you for granted when you have a 10-ton T-Rex as your bodyguard!
Lunella also gets a reality check from her best friend when she says that Lunella can’t fight villains in an ordinary outfit. Now, that is so obvious!
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur was announced way back in 2019. It was followed by a long stretch of silence, but the project seems to be heading towards completion as of late.
The series has some apparent similarities with Ms. Marvel, but this one has been targeted toward a much younger audience. The animation and color scheme used in the teaser are top-notch and remind us of The Powerpuff Girls, another timeless classic.
The protagonist Lunella Lafayette is played by singer and actress Diamond White, and Fred Tatasciore plays the Devil Dinosaur. The star-studded cast also features Laurence Fishburne as supervillain The Beyonder, Sasheer Zamata as Lunella’s mom Adria, Jermaine Fowler as Lunella’s dad James Jr., Libe Barer as Lunella’s bestie Casey, Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella’s grandfather Pops, Alfre Woodard as her grandmother Mimi, and Allison Brie as Aftershock.
The series also features some secret characters voiced by Maya Hawke, Wesley Snipes, Luis Guzman, Cobie Smulders, and Daveed Diggs.
The Marvel series premieres on February 10 on Disney Channel and February 15 on Disney Plus.
