Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight is less than three weeks away, and a new featurette for the series promises that things are about to get darker in the MCU.
In the latest behind-the-scenes clip, series lead Oscar Isaac talks about its tone, alongside co-stars Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy, who play Arthur Harrow and Layla, respectively.
Introducing Moon Knight Featurette:
Isaac noted that the Disney+ series will bring one of Marvel’s darkest heroes to live-action and be a “real legitimate character study” of Moon Knight/Steven Grant/Marc Spector.
Our job was to put a lens on the things that had the most dramatic juice. And ultimately, take the mental health aspect incredibly seriously.
Director Mohamed Diab added they introduce Steven first and then “tackle” Marc, and this choice, in a way, shows how complicated the character’s mind is.
The clip has a lot of shots of Marc/Steven in the sands of Egypt and the museum he works at, looking more disoriented and confused than ever. Marvel didn’t shy away from including a lot of Khonshu footage either.
One scene, in particular, shows Steven falling from a height but switching into Mr. Knight right before he hits the ground, hinting at the superhero’s many phases we’ll get to see throughout the series.
Calamawy commented that the tone is dark at times, and the story is a mix of Fight Club and Indiana Jones, tying into “something vast and supernatural.”
Hawke’s primary villain has a lot of shots in the featurette too. True to Moon Knight’s character and psyche, Hawke adds that each aspect of the show has a duality.
Marvel also dropped new posters of Oscar Isaac’s many looks, including a detailed reveal at his Moon Knight costumes.
Moon Knight consists of six episodes and premieres on Disney+ on March 30.
