Paramount+ dropped the first trailer for Infinite, its new sci-fi action flick, on Friday.
The trailer begins with a voice saying, “You are an Infinite.” We see Mark Wahlberg’s character, Evan, as he gets interrogated at gunpoint by Ted, forcing Evan to remember who he really is.
After some action-packed shots, he discovers that he is a part of a secret group of people called the Infinites, who have been reincarnated a thousand times. Evan has a responsibility to bring together the other Infinites to save the world.
The film is based on D. Eric Maikranz’s 2009 novel titled The Reincarnationist Papers.
This comes just three days after Paramount announced the release date for the film. Infinite is set to arrive on Paramount+ on June 10, 2021.
The official synopsis for Infinite reads:
“For Evan McCauley (Mark Wahlberg), skills he has never learned and memories of places he has never visited haunt his daily life. Self-medicated and on the brink of a mental breakdown, Evan is sought by a secret group that calls themselves “Infinites,” revealing to him that his memories may be real—but they are from multiple past lives.
The Infinites bring Evan into their extraordinary world, where a gifted few are given the ability to be reborn with their memories and knowledge accumulated over centuries. With critical secrets buried in his past, Evan must work with the Infinites to unlock the answers in his memories in a race against time to save humanity from one of their own (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who seeks to end all life to stop what he views as the cursed, endless cycle of reincarnation.”
The movie was initially set to be released theatrically on August 7, 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The date for a theatrical release was shifted to May 28, 2021, but was rescheduled again to avoid competition with A Quiet Place Part II. After a third scheduled release date set for September 24, 2021, Paramount decided to premiere it on Paramount+ in June instead.
Paramount+ (formerly known as CBS All Access) is a rapidly growing streaming service, so this decision seemed to have been made to reach a wider audience and make it more accessible.
The film’s cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Sophie Cookson, Dylan O’Brien, Rupert Friend, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Jason Mantzoukas, Tom Hughes, Wallis Day, Toby Jones, Liz Carr, and Kae Alexander.

About Infinite
Infinite is an upcoming American science fiction action film directed by Antoine Fuqua. Ian Shorr adapted the screenplay and Todd Stein wrote the screen story from D.
