Margot Robbie is entering the colorful, aesthetic world of Wes Anderson’s motion pictures.
Robbie, whose latest role sees her as Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad, has now joined the cast of Anderson’s latest unnamed project.
As reported exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, plot details are being kept under wraps, but according to sources, Robbie’s character will be in a supporting role.
The cast includes Anderson cinema veterans Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Adrien Brody. The project will also be Tom Hanks’ first Anderson movie. However, his part may be ‘small and cameo-like in nature.’
The feature will begin shooting in Spain later in August. Construction of sets started earlier this year in Chinchón, a town located just outside Madrid. Sources have described the sets as having an American Western motif, so the film won’t necessarily be set in Spain.
Robbie is a busy actor, with The Suicide Squad out in cinemas, she’s currently filming Babylon. She recently wrapped production on an untitled David O. Russell feature and will soon begin Greta Gerwig directed Barbie, based on the iconic toy line.
The untitled project will be Anderson’s eleventh film following The French Dispatch, a comedy-drama described as a ‘love letter to journalists.’ It releases in the US on October 22 after being rescheduled from its original release date in July 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The film received a nine-minute standing ovation following its premiere at Cannes Film Festival on July 12.
