Bucchigiri is a new anime series by MAPPA, which is quite similar to Tokyo Revengers because it is a delinquent anime. However, it takes inspiration from ‘The Arabian Nights’ or similar stories, setting up a different vibe than Tokyo Revengers.
This delinquent series kind of draws inspiration from Jojo. It has a pretty similar art style to Jojo which is making everybody excited for its release. MAPPA just added to the excitement by revealing the anime’s streaming platform.
MAPPA announced that the new anime “Bucchigiri?!” will stream on Crunchyroll. This announcement was made at MAPPA’s panel at Anime Expo. The anime will be directed by Hiroko Utsumi and will start airing in January 2024.
Here’s the list if staff working on Bucchigiri.
Position | Staff | Other Works |
Director | Hiroko Utsumi | Banana Fish |
Scriptwriter | Taku | Fruits Basket |
Character Design | Takahiro Kagami | Banana Fish |
Music | Michiru Oshima | Full Metal Alchemist |
Animation Production | Takahiro Ogawa | Banana Fish |
Bucchigiri focuses on the story of Araji Tomobishi, who is an ordinary and timid high school student who reunites with his childhood friend Mataka Asamine. Mataka is a gang leader of a delinquent group.
Mataka invites Araji to join his group and fight against other gangs. Araji soon realizes that he entered a dangerous gamble where he faces a mysterious threat.
Bucchigiri will be an original anime which may lead to its success or downfall. The anime wouldn’t be bound by the source material, which gives great creative liberty. However, without source material, the anime can lack focus.
Fortunately, the anime has a great director and staff, so we can hope for an exciting Yanki fantasy!
