A visual mod for Cyberpunk 2077, which makes the game look like Borderlands, has been uploaded on Nexus Mods. The visual change gives the players the chance to look at Night City in a new light.
When we think about it, Cyberpunk 2077 does bear a lot of resemblance to Borderlands. It is filled with guns having detailed statistics, an extensive skill tree that offers a wide selection of custom character builds. The overall atmosphere is futuristic but still identifiable.
The only distinguishing factor between the two games is the ability to hack anything and everything and the overall visual aesthetic. Now, a new mod can make the visual aesthetic of Cyberpunk 2077 look like Borderlands.
The mod ‘Borderlandfy2077’ changes the visual aesthetic of Cyberpunk 2077, making it look like Borderlands.
Available on Nexus Mods, Borderlandfy2077 is a new mod created by modder SALMONELLA123 (or Salmo). The mod tweaks the graphical elements of Cyberpunk 2077 that make it exceptionally beautiful and reduces them to look like the game is cel-shaded.
In the mod description, Salmo writes,
“It uses the depth buffer, contrast and edge detection to add a border to the image. Making the game look like Borderlands/Cartoon style.”

After installing the mod, the first thing that players will notice is that thick black outlines surround everything. Additionally, the new simpler textures and the way the game’s lighting interact with it.
Players will surely get confused about the game they are playing after installing this mod.
As for the mod requirements, players need to install the latest version of ReShade, version 4.19. The mod author has provided complete installation details on the mod description page.
Recently, CDPR posted a video on their official Twitter handle where they acknowledged that Cyberpunk2077 did not have the best launch.
In the video, CDPR co-founder Marcin Iwinski said that he was “deeply sorry” for the game’s state. But he promised that the game would receive significant updates in 2021 that should fix a lot of its problems.
Despite all its flaws, the gaming and the modding community seems to have accepted Cyberpunk 2077. A mod that gives the players the ability to fly in-game
or a mod that adds a third-person mode to the game
and many others like it are a testament to that.
About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
