Fans Beware, Major Elden Ring Spoilers are Doing the Rounds Online

A studio launching a new IP has to worry about more than just the in-game problems. Leaks can reveal a lot of important information about the game, many aspects that the developers would want to keep a secret for the player. FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is the latest prominent name to now have some significant spoilers circulating the forums.

Elden Ring is one of the most awaited games of 2022, sitting right up there with God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West. So, it’s not surprising that fans are trying to learn as much about the game as possible.

FromSoftware released a new gameplay trailer recently that gave an in-depth look at various aspects of the game, but that doesn’t seem to have been enough for some fans. The spoilers doing the rounds include information about Elden Ring’s story, mechanics, and much more.

A post on the Elden Ring subreddit states that “extreme spoilers” are now popping up on the Internet, courtesy of datamined content. Some players have cracked the code of network tests for the game that went live last month.

Voice lines, pieces of the story, gameplay mechanics, and systems are a few of the results from the datamine. If you’re trying to go into Elden Ring fresh and blind, you may want to be wary of the Internet for a while, especially forums dedicated to Elden Ring or FromSoftware.

Thankfully, it seems the community is banding together to help quash the spoilers. Any datamined content related to the game has been banned on the subreddit, a rule that the moderators instated in a recent post. There is also very little verification when it comes to these spoilers, so a lot of misinformation is also being peddled.

It’s great to see the FromSoftware community coming together to keep each other safe from spoilers. It shows how bonded by trauma everyone is by consistently seeing the “You Died” screen well-known from the studio.

FromSoftware has been able to keep much of the game hidden away from the public eye for a while now, and it would be a shame for critical elements to be spoiled for fans who have been waiting eagerly for the title. If the game is anything like its kin, Elden Ring could very easily become a Game of The Year candidate for 2022.
