4. About Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san:
Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san is written and illustrated by Aiko Koyama. It started publishing in the combined 5th-6th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday on December 28, 2016. Shogakukan has compiled the individual chapters into thirteen tankōbon volumes as of March 12.
The story revolves around Kiyo, a native of Aomori who is friends with Sumire, an apprentice geisha. Kiyo takes up work cooking in the geisha lodge in the Kyoto’s flower district geisha quarter after finishing junior high and leaving her home. The geishas come to rest and prepare for the new day in this lodging.
