Magic Mike is officially returning with a threequel, but the title of the film suggests it’s going to be his “last dance.”
Magic Mike won’t be magical without Mike Lane’s smooth moves at the revue. So it was only fitting that the reveal was made by Channing Tatum himself.
Tatum took to social media and posted a photo of the script with the title “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” written on top. Written by Reid Carolin, the film will be directed by Steven Soderbergh.
The caption read, “Well world, looks like Mike Lane’s tapping back in.” Carolin posted the same picture on his Instagram as well and wrote, “Well world…now this is happening 🍆”
There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same.
Channing Tatum
Is there anybody on screen more charismatic and appealing than Magic Mike? We’re thrilled to be back in business with Channing, Steven, and their creative team to bring back Magic Mike’s wonderful combination of dance, drama, romance, and humor.

The first two films, Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL grossed nearly $300 million worldwide. The franchise’s success led to a stage show called Magic Mike Live in Las Vegas, which further expanded internationally to London, Berlin, and Australia.
The first film saw Mike give up stripping to pursue a business in furniture carpentry. The sequel saw him return to his roots as the team went to the Myrtle Beach stripping convention to have their grand exit.
Plot details are still under wraps, but let’s be honest – since it’s Channing Tatum returning to strip and show off his abs again, everyone’s sold on the film already.
The third and final film in the franchise will have an exclusive premiere on HBO Max sometime in 2022, where another upcoming reality competition show based on the film is expected to drop.
Titled The Real Magic Mike, the show will debut on December 16, 2021, where they’ll be ‘finding Magic Mike’ among ten male competitors. The winner will be awarded a cash prize and get to perform in the Magic Mike Live show in Vegas.
