Mad Max is definitely one of the longest-running film franchises Hollywood has produced in the past few decades. The first Mad Max film came out in 1979, followed by three sequels with the most recent in 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road.
In 2024, the spinoff of Mad Max: Fury Road, which also serves as a prequel for the 2015 film, will premiere on March 24, capturing the origins of Imperator Furiosa. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a young Furiosa, Chris Hemsworth as Immortan Joe, and Tom Burke as Dr. Dementus.
The prequel will explore the origins of Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron in the 2015 film. The film will focus on Furiosa’s childhood and her journey to becoming one of the best captains, as witnessed in the 2015 post-apocalypse film.
George Miller returns to the director’s helm after Fury Road to give Furiosa’s character the recognition she deserves. The 2015 film’s spinoff, releasing after almost a decade, has already gotten updates after the disclosure of Chris Hemsworth’s Immortan Joe. And now, The Daily Mail’s UK Twitter account has released images for the prequel’s set featuring a transformed Anya Taylor-Joy.
The images have highlighted two important details in Furiosa’s life prior to the events of Mad Max: Fury Road. Taylor-Joy’s blonde hair has not been buzzed in the iconic look carried by Theron’s Furiosa, hinting at a further trip back in time. Also, Anya is spotted wearing a green CGI sleeve, which is telling of the fact that at this point in her story, Furiosa has already lost her arm.
Other new updates glistened from the set images are a brief look at Immortan Joe’s young brainwashed fighter, the War Boys. The images captured could be from the kidnapping scene where Furiosa is taken by Joe’s gang to the Green Place mentioned in Fury Road.
Anya Taylor-Joy’s tattered and worn-out look in the images from the set is steeling fans’ hopes of seeing Furiosa getting justice in her own spinoff.
