Macross has a whole universe, all to itself! I’m not just saying this because it is a space-based series but because of how vast the franchise is. Two new films are here to add even more to the franchise’s volume (hey! I’m not complaining!).
The series features a humanoid civilization that resides in the Milky Way. The series has a recurring theme of music. Every addition to Macross has its own connection with music and a singer is involved with every anime.
A new short anime film for the Macross Frontier series has just been announced! The short film is titled “Macross Frontier Film Short: Labyrinth of Time.” The short film will apparently premiere with the Gekijōban Macross Delta: Zettai LIVE!!!!!! Movie.
Risa Ebata, the Macross Frontier anime’s character designer, has illustrated a new key visual for the upcoming short film!
The characters in the visual look like Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee. However, they both look like they have grown-up. Does the film take place after a timelapse or will a new there be a glitch in the Space Fold travel?
Even the voice actors of Sheryl and Ranka have commented that the characters indeed look grown-up and wonder if there will be new music too.
The tagline of the visual reads, “Can you hear these voices?” Sheryl Nome is the “Galactic Fairy” who helps recognize the musical talent of Ranka Lee. The new short anime movie might further explore their friendly relationship.
The staff of the film includes:
Position | Staff | Other Works |
Creator | Shoji Kawamori | Macross Delta |
Music Production | Flying Dog | Aria the Scarlet Ammo, BEM |
Both Kawamori and Studio Nue are credited with the original story. Studio Satelight is responsible for the animation.
