The Old director M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming movie name and release are finally out in the open.
The filmmaker posted a cryptic social media post without any caption on October 13, and soon, Universal Pictures retweeted it with the name – Knock at the Cabin.
The Indian-American filmmaker has created one of the most lovable horror trilogies, the Unbreakable trilogy. He is known for his supernatural horror films, and looking at the tweet; we’re sure his latest is the same.
The studio and the filmmaker didn’t reveal much about the upcoming Knock at the Cabin, but we now have a precise release date.
The teaser plays on the number 2323, which is the release date for the movie – February 3, 2023. The date has jumped by two weeks as the original release was scheduled for February 17, 2023.
While Shyamalan’s latest release, the supernatural thriller Old did great at the box office, he might not have wanted to take another risk.
Had the original date been the final one, it would have gone up against Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
He had teased fans about the next project in another subtle way by posting a third draft photo of the script. It only showed a leather binder with pages in it—nothing more, nothing less.
Now that the name and release details are out, it’s up to the fans to theorize the context of the film.
Do numbers have something to do with it? Is “knocking” a direct indication of danger? The way Old really just had people magically turning old and dying in just a couple of minutes?
We’ll have to wait and see what Knock at the Cabin is all about. One thing is for sure, it will be different from all the other generic horror movies that require exorcism. No. Shyamalan’s movies require a deduction.
Universal Pictures and Shyamalan might finally reveal what it’s all about in some time. Till then, we’re gonna go watch the psychological horror Unbreakable trilogy again.
