Mao and Max enjoy their vacation at the Republic and fully use all the amenities at the hot springs. They spend the night exploring the resort and check out the souvenir shops in the morning. While wandering the town, they overhear news of a Kingdom attack.

They go to the border to watch the battle between the two nations and are not very impressed. The Kingdom nearly wins the fight, but the Republic’s Leader, Leo, drops in from the sky.

Max and Mao successfully left the Republic and got to the safety of their home. In the last second, Leo recognizes Max and is now suspicious of what he’s doing hanging around with a demon.

Leo will likely ask Anego and the others and discover the reason behind Max’s visit. He may also try and track him down in the Kingdom to catch up on their lives. Besides that, we have yet to see the story behind the ghost of Max’s closet.

Max and Mao play table tennis at the hot spring resort, but each ball keeps breaking because of the power they hit it with. After the game, she bathes, and they have dinner before bed. The following day they step out into the tourist area again.

On the way to the border, a woman announces that all public transit is blocked. They realize they must be fighting the Kingdom again since the border is blocked, and Mao suggests they go check out the fight.

She releases her wings, and the two fly over the forest to reach the border. From a high area, they use binoculars to watch the fight. Neither side is advancing because of the Republic’s magic weapons and defensive barrier. Eventually, the Kingdom issues a tactical retreat.

When the Republic lowers its guard, they get hit by a magical beam of light. The Kingdom has a strong image with a magic eye and starts sniping them from afar. However, he’s interrupted by Leo jumping to the frontlines and unleashing a massive tornado through the army.

Leo tells Captain Galmoff to get out of his sight, and they abort the mission for now. Leo spots the two before Mao can use the teleport spell and get them both home. He interrupts their spell and recognizes Mao’s demonic presence.

He tries to make a deal with Max and asks him to hand over the demon and walk away. He rejects the offer and throws Mao down to start casting teleportation while he tries to buy time by fighting Leo. He catches Leo’s spear using his bare fists and stops him in hand-to-hand combat.

Right before he teleports away, Mao calls out Max’s name, and Leo realizes who he’s fighting against. She thanks him for saving her at the Republic, and Max stays modest about it.
