Lupin the Third Theatrical Engagement for October Brings 50 Year Nostalgia

With the age-old noir anime series “Lupin The Third” celebrating its golden anniversary this year, we all knew something big was in the bag.

And with Lupin’s part 6 just about to premiere this fall, the upcoming anime has surprised many fans as they will witness the gentleman thief take on the one-and-only Sherlock Holmes. Though many of us thought the cat was out of the bag, Sentai Filmworks has surprised us with its next big event.

In collaboration with studio TMS, Sentai Filmworks announced an exclusive theatrical engagement to see the world premiere of the 1971 TV anime “Lupin The Third” part 1, episode 1, on October 22, 2021.

Alongside the anime premiere, the theatrical event will include the first two episodes of the upcoming anime “Lupin The Third” part 6.

The upcoming part 6 follows Lupin as he sets his eyes on a treasure hidden by the Raven, a mysterious organization that controls the British government. A single piece of art holds the key to the prize, but Scotland Yard and MI6, along with Inspector Zenigata and Sherlock Holmes, will do whatever it takes to keep it from Lupin.

The theatrical event will be held in select theaters primarily in North America from October 22 to 28, and registrations are already underway. The interested fans can find the list of cities here.

Lupin The Third part 1 episode 1 made its debut 50 years ago, and for the first time, the original anime will receive an English dub in this theatrical release. With all these nostalgic trips and more on the way, 2021 is sure to become the year of Lupin.

Lupin III, also written as Lupin the Third, Lupin the 3rd or Lupin the IIIrd, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Monkey Punch.

Arsène Lupin III, the grandson of the fictional gentleman thief, Arsène Lupin, is considered the world’s greatest thief, known for announcing his intentions to steal valuable objects by sending a calling card to their owners.

His right-hand man and closest ally is Daisuke Jigen, an expert marksman who can accurately shoot a target in 0.3 seconds. Although Lupin and Jigen frequently work as a two-man team. They are often joined by Goemon Ishikawa XIII, a master swordsman whose sword can cut anything.

Or Fujiko Mine, a femme fatale and Lupin’s love interest. Although Fujiko usually works together with the others, she occasionally exploits Lupin’s interest in her to steal the treasure for herself. Lupin and his gang are always chased by Inspector Koichi Zenigata of Interpol.
