Episode 24 of Lupin III, part 6, titled ” What Crooks Love,” is the latest installment of the anime.
The season finale served as a brilliant conclusion to part 6. We finally met Tomoe and uncovered what relationship she had with Lupin. Turns out, she wasn’t his mother but treated him like he was her son. She tried to control Lupin but ruined the lives of numerous women in the process.
Mattea was one such woman who blamed Tomoe for ruining her life and Lupin because if he didn’t exist, she would have had a normal childhood. When Lupin saw through her plan, Tomoe declared that she wouldn’t stop until he was hers, resulting in Lupin shooting her.
With Tomoe dead, Lupin destroyed the article that connected him to his roots, saying it would tie him down. After sharing an emotional moment, Lupin and his gang are out on the run again while inspector Zenigata chases after them.

Episode 24 Recap
Mattea launches herself toward Lupin with the intent of killing him. Lupin dodges her attack, and the two start fighting. They’re interrupted by Jigen, Goemon, and Fujiko as the three walk in.
Fujiko demands an explanation from Lupin, and he replies that his plan is beyond her realm of understanding.
He then turns to Tomoe and asks her to show them the evidence that proves he’s her son. Tomoe reveals that there’s a box hidden in a vault somewhere in the mansion.
Lupin challenges Fujiko to try and find the vault, which frustrates her because she thinks he’s undermining her abilities.
She slaps Lupin continuously, and he finally cries out in pain, revealing that this was his plan all along. He tells Tomoe that he snapped out of her hypnosis a while ago and met up with his team when Mattea shot him.
They then plan that Lupin will continue his act and will hence force Tomoe to reveal the location of the evidence.
Tomoe is disappointed but not surprised since she already saw through Lupin’s act. With nothing left to lose, she asks Lupin how he broke through her mental prison.
He explains how Jigen, Goemon, and Fujiko’s influences snapped him back to reality. Instead of getting disheartened, Tomoe laughs like a maniac and tells Lupin that she’ll train even more women and do whatever it takes to make him surrender to her.
This triggers Mattea to tighten her grip on her assassination knife and lunches toward Tomoe. Before she could stab her, Lupin loads a bullet in his gun and shoots her.
Tomoe falls down to her death, still convinced that Lupin will come back to her one day. Mattea leaps on her limp body and stabs her continuously before Lupin asks her to stop. She’s still furious at him and demands a battle.
Lupin agrees, but he realizes that they’re equally talented mid-way through their fight. He asks her if she genuinely wants to follow Tomoe’s teachings by killing every single target of hers.
Shocked to discover that she was still imprisoned by Tomoe’s lessons, Mattea drops her knife and tells Lupin that she’ll decide her own path.
Inspector Zenigata appeared shortly and handcuffed Mattea, taking her in on account for suspected murder. Meanwhile, Lupin finds the box that connects him to his roots.
Instead of opening it, he throws it into the mansion, which is now engulfed in flames. His reason for throwing away the box is that its contents might tie him down, and he wants to live a free life.
As the episode ends, Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, and Fujiko are being chased by Zenigata, showing us that the team is back to its old rhythm.
