Episode 22 of Lupin III, part 6, titled “My Mother’s Document,” is the latest installment of the anime.
The plot thickness as we come closer to finding Tomoe’s real identity. We’re introduced to another one of her students, Mariel, who moved to Revonland from the US after a traumatic experience that resulted in teen pregnancy.
The story was quite confusing as it seemed like Mariel shot her boyfriend and her abuser before shooting herself. She also apparently gave birth to her daughter, Finn, on the same day.
To uncover the mystery behind her mother’s death, Finn visits the same house and discovers a journal and some tapes left behind by her mother.
Meanwhile, Lupin and Mattea also follow Finn to Revonland to find Tomoe. After training numerous students to become world-class assassins, what exact are Tomoe’s true motives? We’ll find out in the next episode.
Episode 23 Speculation
After meeting Finn and discovering Mariel’s records about Tomoe, a stream of beautiful memories tickle at Lupin’s consciousness.
We might see how his time with Tomoe shaped him as a person while getting closer to her whereabouts.
Mattea is also on a pursuit to find Tomoe, and it finally feels like we’re getting closer to her. While it’s clear that Lupin only spent an early part of his childhood with Tomoe, Mattea’s time with her is still a mystery.
We don’t even know why she’s keen on finding her ex-tutor, but hopefully, the next episode will provide us with some answers.

Episode 22 Recap
Lupin desperately searches for Tomoe’s location while hanging out with Jigen and Goemon. Elsewhere, a girl named Finn is on her way to Revonland, excited for her vacation in the snow-soaked nation.
We find out that her mother visited the same place years ago but tragically died. Finn is determined to uncover the secret behind her death while also experiencing the aurora borealis.
She arrives at a cozy cottage owned by an elderly couple, Anna and Daniel. This was the same place that sheltered her mother when she was a teenager.
Finn finds her mother, Mariel’s journal, that holds records of her life while she was pregnant. She writes about her crush, Sean, stating how she became his football team’s assistant.
The last entry contains the name of another person, Allen, who asks Mariel out. She writes that he doesn’t like her one bit but is convinced that all girls love him.
Finn is interrupted by Anna, who asks her if her tutor will arrive that day. She thinks that Finn is Mariel, still unable to process her death.
Finn asks Daniel about this tutor, but he doesn’t know much about her. She then calls her grandfather for the same, and he tells her that the tutor specializes in handling trauma.
The next day, Daniel gives Finn a set of tapes that her mother used to record her days with her tutor.
Finn starts recording her experiences through social media, where she broadcasts her voice live while listening to the tapes.
Mariel mentions a teacher dressed in a traditional kimono, which immediately shows up on Lupin’s searches. Somewhere else, Mattea is also trying to find Tomoe and comes across Finn’s broadcast.
When the two discover that Finn is in Revonland, they immediately leave for the country. Zenigata senses Mattea’s movement and joins in the chase.
Meanwhile, Finn continues listening to the tapes, inching closer towards the truth. She soon finds out that her mother was abused by Allen, Sean’s teammate, which made her pregnant.
Tomoe taught Mariel how to shoot and kill someone so that she could take revenge on Allen. However, she ends up shooting both Allen and Sean and commits suicide.
This information shocks Finn and she almost falls unconscious but Lupin reaches there just in time to catch her.
He slyly steals the tapes while pretending to be a regular person who hears Finn’s screams. Finn finally accepts her mother’s reality and returns to the States. With new clues to Tomoe’s whereabouts, Lupin and his gang set off to find her.
