Bob Odenkirk Returns as an Eccentric Professor in Lucky Hank Teaser

The first trailer for AMC’s new series, Lucky Hank, starring Bob Odenkirk is out now. This marks Odenkirk’s third collaboration with AMC, following two back-to-back successful ventures, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The series will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on March 19, 2023.

Odenkirk shot to fame after playing the iconic Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad. The character’s popularity led to the making of Better Call Saul, a spin-off revolving around Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman as the protagonist. Both shows are widely considered to be two of the greatest television shows of all time, and Odenkirk has been widely celebrated for his performance in both projects.

There were also a few other announcements about the series in the panel, including the names of some of the recurring stars who we’ll see in Lucky Hank. Oscar Nunez, Chris Diamantopoulos, Tom Bower, and Kyle Maclachlan are some of them.

The series is an adaptation of Richard Russo’s 1997 book, Straight Man. The show was first named after the book itself, but was later changed to its current title, Lucky Hank. The first season will consist of eight, one hour long, episodes and will air on AMC and AMC+ only.

The novel focuses on Richard Russo’s own experiences as a teacher at various colleges and universities, and focuses on Devereaux, a former novelist who is appointed as the Chairman of an unfunded Pennsylvania University’s English department.

The show follows a 50-year-old professor dealing with a mid-life crisis and struggling to keep his professional life going while trying to maintain a healthy family life.

The series has been adapted for television by Aaron Zelman who’s been a part of shows such as Law and Order and Criminal Minds, along with Paul Lieberstein, who played Toby Flenderson in The Office US and also served as showrunner in the iconic sitcom.

Zelman and Lieberstein, who also serve as executive producers in the series, will bring in an interesting and unique blend of drama and comedy, which will make the show one of its kind.

The show also features an ensemble supporting cast, including Mireille Eros as Hank’s wife and Oscar Nunez (who played Oscar in The Office) as Hank’s boss, Dean Jacob Rose. Bower will be playing Hank’s estranged father, Devereaux Sr.

With such a talented team at hand, Lucky Hank has a high chance of becoming another successful venture for AMC.
