Netflix is coming up with a new animated family drama called Lost Ollie. Although a premiere date has not been announced by the streaming network, chances are that the series will drop sometime in 2021. Be prepared with a box of tissues because the plot of Lost Ollie will definitely tug at a few heartstrings and bring smiles and tears to your face.
Lost Ollie describes the story of a childhood toy that is lost from its home and is trying to find its way back. The series will also show the story of the boy who loses more than a toy – the toy which he considers to be his best friend and constant companion. They try to reunite against all odds and the story takes us through their journey.
The animated series is being adapted from Oscar-winning duo William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg’s novel Ollie’s Odyssey. Lost Ollie is not the only cinematic adaptation of Joyce’s work. In 2012, his book The Guardians Of Childhood was made into the popular animated feature film Rise Of The Guardians.
The director of Rise Of The Guardians, Peter Ramsey, will be helming Lost Ollie as well. His most recent and most appreciated work is Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse, which won an Academy Award for the best-animated film in 2019.
With such a talented team behind the series, we can expect a nostalgic family-friendly live-action drama that will be relatable to all age groups.
Will you watch Lost Ollie? Do you have a toy that you associate with your childhood?
