The entire Fate series is a massive franchise in itself. And with so many spin-offs and timelines, it gets difficult to keep up. Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files is one of the finest spin-offs from the franchise.
It takes place between the Fourth Holy Grail War and Fate/Stay Night. In the aftermath of the war, Waver Velvet, the protagonist, is assigned as the successor to the El-Melloi household until the true successor is ready to take over.
Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note announced a special edition for the anime at the Aniplex Online Fest 2021.

The visual shows a grown-up Waver standing with his back towards a younger version of himself. Jun Nakai, who was in charge of the anime’s character design, drew the visual.
The visual also hints at the plot about how this special edition might give us some insight into Waver’s childhood. The special might just be about his childhood, or they might show parallels between his present and younger self.
Waver’s voice actor, Daisuke Namikawa, mentioned that he has not started the recording yet and is looking forward to it. Additionally, the upcoming special is still under production, and no other information has been released yet.

Whenever a franchise has many spin-offs, fans generally get upset at them not being canon or accurate. However, that is not the case with Lord El-Melloi.
The fans loved the show so much that any content from it gets them excited. The story is exceptionally well planned with such intricate details; you just can’t help but love this series.
