An anime film adaptation of Mizuki Tsujimura’s novel Lonely Castle in the Mirror was announced earlier this year, and a teaser trailer was also released in July. Recently, Shochiku began streaming the second trailer for the film.
The trailer, which was released on November 12, previews Yuri’s theme song “Merry Go Round.” Additionally, Shochiku released a 5-minute behind-the-scenes video for the film, which outlines the story and features comments from the voice actors and director.
The A-1 Pictures production is being directed by Keeichi Hara, with Miho Maruo writing the script. Keigo Sasaki handles the character designs and is also the chief animation director.
Harumi Fuuki is the music composer for the film, and the Russian artist Ilya Kuvshinov is credited for the visual concept and castle design.

The main character of “Kagami no Kojo” is Kokoro, a junior high school student who has lost her place at school and has shut herself up at home. One day, the mirror in the room suddenly began to glow, and when he passed through the mirror as if his heart was being sucked in, there was a mysterious castle-like building ahead, and seven people with similar circumstances to his heart were gathered. A secret key is hidden in the castle, and it is said that anyone who finds the key will be granted any wish…
Tsujimura’s novel was originally released in 2017 and skyrocketed in popularity. It won the 2018 Japan Booksellers’ Award, and topped Da Vinci magazine’s Book of the Year list in 2017.
The film is set to release in Japan on December 23.
