Trust Ryan Reynolds to add fuel to the fire of the fans’ agonizingly long wait for Deadpool 3! The actor recently tweeted about the potential plot for the film before Disney acquired Fox, and fans are very upset that it will not be happening. According to Reynolds, under Fox, Deadpool 3 would have seen Wade and Logan/Wolverine on a road trip!
Wade and Logan were seen together once before in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but it wasn’t nearly enough. Some hardcore fans even refuse to call the film’s version of Wade, Deadpool! Of course, after the two Deadpool movies developed his character, a crossover between the Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine would be a comic nerd’s dream. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s off-screen mock feud already has us in splits and it would be awesome to see how it would translate on screen.
Unfortunately, a road trip between Jackman’s Logan and Deadpool will never come true. After Disney acquired Fox, all signs point to the X-Men series getting rebooted. This means that all the development of the X-Men characters is non-canon, and in all probability, Deadpool doesn’t even know Marvel’s Wolverine. Besides, Hugh Jackman has already retired from the role of Wolverine after 2017’s Logan.
Knowing Reynold’s humor, this tweet seems to have only one purpose- to tease fans. Details for Deadpool 3 have been few and far between. Marvel head Kevin Feige had revealed that Reynolds was overseeing a script but that was back in December 2019. He also mentioned that the shooting would not start any time soon.
Deadpool 3 couldn’t come sooner for us!
