Features being added then removed from games are pretty commonplace. Usually, it happens because it is not functioning as intended, or it’s just not being used much.
But it took Raven Software just a day to remove a highly anticipated feature from Warzone : loadout editing.
Active for just a day, Raven Software confirmed through a tweet that they would be removing the ability to edit loadouts before a match.
This feature has been highly requested in Warzone and it came with the latest update. Before the update, players were not able to edit their loadouts in a pre-match lobby. Instead, they could only do this from the game’s main menu.
While the decision on face value seems like a counter-intuitive move, one that could be considered as anti-player, there is actually a good reason behind it.
It was discovered that the feature allowed players to start a match with a full loadout, something that is supposed to be exclusive to loadout drops which must be bought with points in a match.
This is what the tweet refers to with “players will no longer begin a match with their loadouts.”
Removing this feature has also fixed another bug many players have been facing where they could infinitely use the Field Upgrade Dead Silencer.
Raven Software has promised that the loadout editing feature will be back in the future but didn’t give a specific date.
Loadout editing was added to the game as part of July 15th’s Season Four Reload update. Raven then announced on July 16th that the feature would be removed, which makes it one of the shortest time frames for a feature being added to being deleted from a game.
But this isn’t new, as some overpowered guns have also seen quick fixes in the past.
