Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building started streaming on Hulu yesterday, and it is bigger, funnier, and much more profound. For those who don’t remember, Season 1 ended with a very dead Bunny, and our podcasters, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver, as prime suspects in the case.
The first two episodes of Season 2 premiered, and we already have a list of suspects ready. Let’s find out who they are.
Bunny could’ve been killed by one of the following characters:
- Alice
- Nina
- Leonora
- Uma
- Howard
For now, these are some of the names on our list. I’ve ignored the likes of Amy Schumer for now because she seems to be the comic/satirical relief we all need in the middle of this murder mystery.
Alice
The timing of Alice reaching out to Mabel is pretty convenient. She initially says that she liked Mabel’s murals, but when the latter brings up Rose Cooper, it seems like Alice has a particular interest in her.
Then again, we’ve already seen in Season 1 how the writers have diverted our attention with the likes of Dimas. In Season 1, there were two murder victims—Tim Kono and Zoe. While one was an accident caused by Theo Dimas, the other was a premeditated murder by Jan.
In Season 2, we’ve already got Bunny as a murder victim, and it seems like Rose Cooper could be the other. Considering that Alice is part of the art community, and her interest in Rose Cooper seems pretty coincidental, she is our first person of interest.
Nina
Nina takes over as the president of the board at Arconia. There’s a chance that she killed off Bunny to take over the position, but we still don’t know what benefits she’d get as the president. Moreover, this entire painting business seems like a diversion.
Although Bunny’s last words were 14 and Savage, there’s a chance she might be referring to the killer escaping from the shaft near the painting. Nina could be this person, but we don’t have any motive attached to her yet.
Leonora
Leonora has come for the Savage painting, and she has recognized the one she sees in Amy Schumer’s apartment as fake. Leonora is Bunny’s mother and we still don’t know their dynamic. Whether their relationship was good, bad, or ugly remains to be seen as of now.
However, her interest in the painting piques my interest in her as a possible killer. Now, she’s too old to be able to do that by herself and wasn’t even near the crime scene when the murder happened. So, is there a chance she had help from someone else? I guess we’ll find out.
Uma and Howard
These two people are definitely hiding something. The two entering Bunny’s place looking for the painting, Howard making the parrot say how he and Bunny were good friends, and Howard’s black eyes are all instances that indicate this.
These are my last suspects because they seem like the characters who are meant only for diversions and sub-plots. In any murder mystery show or movie, many dirty secrets come out before we reach a conclusion. Uma and Howard seem like the perfect fit for that. Nevertheless, they are still on my suspect list.
Here’s why I feel none of these characters would’ve done it. This speculation is based on the assumption that the writers might have used similar tropes and narratives in Season 1. If you remember, the actual murderer, Jan, wasn’t even introduced until the third episode.
We’re only two episodes down, and there are eight more to go. Perhaps the killer hasn’t even made an appearance in the show yet. I guess we just have to wait until the end of the season to find out who killed Bunny.
