If you think of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the first scene that comes to your mind must be Tanjiro swaying his sword to the beats of “Gurenge,” the opening theme of the anime by LiSA.
“Homura” by LiSA is the theme song of Mugen Train, and it has brought her the honor she deserves!
It seems as if the aftereffects of Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train movie have not yet stopped! Not only has the film broken records on box offices, but even the artists associated with the film have become well-known in their respective fields.
LiSA has been selected to receive the Citizen’s Honor Award from her hometown, Seki City, in the Gifu prefecture. The mayor of the city, Kenji Ozeki, announced that LiSA will be receiving the honors for performing the theme song of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, “Homura.”
In the 70 years history of Seki city, LiSA is the second person to earn the Citizen’s Honor Award. The first person to receive it is Yoshinori Tsuchiya, who was acknowledged as a Living National Treasure for his Monsha weaving skills.
The most interesting and perhaps amusing thing about the affair is that her award will be commemorated with an imitation sword! The sword will even have her name on it! This decision was made by a vote of 1,500 junior high school students from the city, Seki.
Mugen Train’s theme song, “Homura,” has been streamed over 100 million times in the past 81 days! The song has been awarded a streaming Platinum for the incredible feat.
“Gurenge” has also shattered several records and had been downloaded over 100 million times within January 2021. LiSA was awarded the Japan Record Award for it.
Both the soulful “Homura” and the head-banging “Gurenge” have stolen the heart of music lovers worldwide, and we cannot wait for the next song of LiSA.
About Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge.
Its publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began in February 2016 with 19 collected tankōbon volumes released as of present.
In a world filled with demons and demon slayers, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the lives of two siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, after— the murder of their family at the hands of a demon.
Their hardship does not end there, as Nezuko’s life is spared only for her to live as a demon.
As the oldest sibling, Tanjiro vows to protect and cure his sister. The story traces the bond of this brother-sister or, better yet, demon slayer and demon combo against the odds of an arch antagonist and the society.
