Star Billy Magnussen discusses story details of the upcoming live-action remake, ‘Lilo & Snitch.’
Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois directed the original 2002 film in which a young girl adopts an alien experiment called Snitch as her pet dog.The original movie gave rise to a montage of creatives featuring Lilo & Snitch, including TV shows, sequels, and now a live-action remake.
Billy Magnussen, who is expected to play Agent Pleakley in the film, talked with GamesRadar+ and discussed details about the film. Read his comments below:
I don’t think you can compare pieces of art to each other. I adored working with everyone in this. Rideback was the producing house making this film, and I did Aladdin with them. Again, it’s a story about connection, and a kid trying to find a friend, and all you can do is approach a project like that with love. I am so grateful and honored to be a part of that project.
The first rumors of a Lilo & Stitch remake started in 2018. Since then, the entire development process has faced a lot of setbacks because of a montage of reasons.
However, some recently released set photos from Hawaii confirmed that the remake is finally gaining momentum.
A barrage of talented actors have already signed contracts to work in this film. Chris Sanders is returning to voice Stitch, and Maia Kealoha is set to bring Lilo to life. Courtney B. Vance and Sydney Agudong are also on board.
Initially, Kahiau Machado was picked for the role of David Kawena, but due to a social media controversy, Disney decided to go with Kaipo Dudoit for the part instead.
As per Magnussen, the remake will follow the original closely and feature the complex yet simple dynamic between the two protagonists. Finally, it is also possible for Disney to incorporate new details in the film, and it will be exciting to find those out when the film gets released.

Lilo & Stitch is an upcoming live-action remake of the 2002 animated film of the same name. Dean Fleischer Camp is directing the film, written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, Dean DeBlois, and Chris Sanders for Disney.
The film will follow the same story as the Disney animated film – Lilo adopts a ‘dog’ from the local pound, completely unaware that it’s supposedly a dangerous scientific experiment that’s taken refuge on Earth and is now hiding from its creator and those who see it as a menace.
The cast includes Maia Kealoha, Sydney Agudong, Chris Sanders, Billy Magnussen, and Zach Galifianakis. No release date has been set yet.
