Fall in love with the mesmerizing Tajima city and enjoy its serene beauty with the new Let’s Make a Mug Too anime releasing this April.
I’m sure you already know that this slice of life anime is a part of a project to promote Japan’s Gifu prefecture and the one thing Tajimi city is widely famous for i.e, the ceramic arts.
The culture and art kept preserved in Tajimi city’s museums get a special feature in the Let’s Make a Mug Too anime. Announced last year, the manga fans had already anticipated some dazzling animations for the anime adaptation.
Now, the official website has finally dropped the PV and a stunning visual for Let’s Make a Mug Too which will premiere on 2nd April 2021.
The PV starts with Himeno joining a ceramic shop after moving to Tajima city. She finds out about her mother being a famous potter there, and through trial and error, Himeno too follows along her mother’s footsteps to become a talented potter.
The trailer showcases Himeno as a daughter trying to connect to her mother’s past, a lonely girl trying to make friends, and a girl trying to find a new passion in life and packs everything in this emotional anime.
Three additional cast members have also been added to the list of the stellar cast featured in Let’s Make a Mug Too. The cast will play the role of Himeno’s father, Himeno’s grandmother, and the ceramic’s club instructor.
The cast for the anime includes:
Character | Cast | Other Works |
Tokishiro Toyokawa | Kaito Ishikawa | Tobio Kageyama (Haikyu!!) |

The visual is a hilarious take on Himeno’s first time trying pottery. It shows her messing up her first mug while her friends freak out on the side due to the mess she created.
The anime will also have a live-action part that will feature the anime’s voice cast as well.
The cast for the live-action will include:
Character | Cast | Other Works |
Himeno | Minami Tanaka | Urakaze(Azur Lane) |
Naoko | Yuki Wakai | Takami (Chou GingaSendan -Infinity-) |
Mika | Yu Serizawa | Ann (Pretty Rhythm) |
Touko | Rina Honnizumi | Sophie (Shironeko Tennis) |
The cast will also form a vocal unit called the Mug-Mo unit, and perform the anime’s opening theme song, “If You Open the Door”.
If you’re an arts and crafts enthusiast and love a dose of slice-of-life anime then you should definitely add this one to your watch-list. Also, be sure to follow it up with the live-action as well.
Honestly, I can’t wait for April to see Himeno reconnect with her mother’s ambitions and follow her new passion!
