Leaks Claim ‘Rascal Does Not Dream’ Sequel Anime will Premiere in June

‘Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai’ has been one of the most emotional and heartbreaking romances in the history of anime. It has an almost cult-like following, and once you get into it, there’s no going back.

Although the anime began and ended in 2018, there are still many light novels left for it to adapt. For this, the franchise finally revealed its plans that the sequels to this anime series will be made as theatrical films, two of which are debuting soon.

Some leaks have claimed that the ‘Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out’ anime film will open in Japan on June 24, 2023.

No such information has been revealed or confirmed by an official source, so it can’t be fully trusted. However, it does give us a tentative idea about when the film will be out.

The film is supposed to adapt the light novel series’ eighth volume of the same name. It will focus on the protagonist, Sakuta’s sister, Kaede, who wants to attend the same school as her brother.

In the anime series, we saw that Kaede was a shy girl who didn’t blend well with others and always stayed at her house. This novel will be her character development arc when she finally decides to go out and live her life.

Besides this, the sequel anime project will also adapt the ninth volume titled ‘Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid.’ It is yet to be decided how long both films will be, but certain theaters in Japan have stated they’ll sell a joint ticket to watch both movies once.

A theatrical release of a ‘Rascal Does Not Dream’ movie means a theater full of the sound of silent tears. We all have cried a lot during the anime series, so be prepared with a box of tissues for this one as well.

As for the debut’s confirmation, the franchise might release a notice or announcement regarding it soon.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is a light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Kēji Mizoguchi. It received a manga series in December 2015 and an anime series in October 2018.

It is story revolving around high school students Sakuta Azusagawa and Mai Sakurajima, a teenage actress. Mai suffers from the Adolescence Sydrome, an urban legend which is more of a horrific reality, and Sakuta decides to help her and others suffering from it.
