GTA 6 to Have In-Game Cryptocurrency According to Leaker

The rumor mill for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been active for a while now, even though Rockstar is yet to announce the game officially. The latest leak suggests that players will earn cryptocurrency in-game, which could also rule out several widespread Grand Theft Auto 6 rumors circulating.

One of the biggest and most desired rumor is that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be returning to the 1980s era we saw in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This rumor has been going around for over a year now. Also, it includes another very popular rumor titled “Project Americas,” which says that Grand Theft Auto 6’s map will span across multiple cities and perhaps even countries.

The leak about in-game cryptocurrency comes from reputable leaker Tom Henderson on Twitter. They are known for leaks concerning Battlefield but said they recently spoke to someone familiar with the new Grand Theft Auto. Henderson claims that players will earn cryptocurrency similar to Bitcoin through the game’s campaign, the price of which will fluctuate depending on the in-game market, similar to the stock market in Grand Theft Auto 5. This rules out the rumor of a 1980s GTA, as Bitcoin wasn’t invented until 2009.

It should be noted that this information is still just a ‘leak’ and has not been confirmed in any way. If the new Grand Theft Auto is set in modern times, then the leak does seem likely, as the game is known for recreating current trends from the real world within the game world. There are many rumors regarding this game floating around, but Henderson has been right about many leaks before, so the information could very well be accurate.

We can only know which rumor is true or not once Rockstar officially announces Grand Theft Auto 6. If crypto does make an appearance within the game, it could be a unique mechanic. It would be even more fun to see if it can be brought to Grand Theft Auto Online, which has seen a surge in popularity ever since NoPixel’s roleplaying server.
