The GPU market is dominated by two very well-known names: NVIDIA and AMD. Each tries to remain ahead of the competition, especially given the new generation of cards is almost upon us.
NVIDIA is already rumored to be preparing five RTX 40-series GPUs in the Ada Lovelace range, so AMD will probably want to ensure that it is not left behind with its own RDNA 3 architecture. There is still some time before this hardware comes out, though, and it seems AMD has plans for the meantime.
A recent leak suggests there is a chance that AMD could be looking to release some new Ryzen 5000/4000 CPUs, along with some products in its Radeon graphics card lineup, and could be out as early as spring.
To be more specific, the company could be revealing a 6950 XT, 6750 XT, and a 6400. These are still just rumors, but it could be a likely last attempt to put out some more RDNA 2 products before they too must move onto the next generation.
If the rumors are to be believed, then the latest developments should align with the recent speculations that AMD may release three more high-end GPUs before the end of this generation.
NVIDIA is also gearing to launch their powerful RTX 3090 Ti, and Intel is due to release a range of discrete GPUs in the Arc range. It’s clear that the market will become very competitive soon, with all the companies looking to hold customer attention.
Graphics cards’ prices may be falling, but they are still above the MSRPs. The ongoing global semiconductor shortage has made it very difficult for PC gamers and enthusiasts to acquire new hardware without shelling out a lot of money.
We don’t know what the market will look like in the coming months, but it is clear that the tech conglomerates are keen to keep pushing products into the market.
Hopefully, AMD will release more updates on their plans and if they are preparing to launch three more RDNA 2 cards. RDNA 3 has been scheduled for later this year, and NVIDIA is also launching its 4-series cards in September, so the race is one for every company to get to the consumers first.
