To make up for all the time lost in quarantine and away from those football stadiums, here is another season of the Last Chance U for all football fanatics.
The award-winning Netflix Original has been renewed by the streaming giant for a fifth and final spin off. The season following this one would be focusing on a different sport altogether.
When is season 5 out?
Even as the ongoing COVID pandemic has halted numerous productions, Last Chance isnt one of them. The show clearly completed filming in time but the post-production was delayed due to the mandatory quarantine.
The final season of Last Chance U: Football will arrive on July 28.
While there is news of another season, focusing on a different sport, we don’t have solid confirmation yet.
Given that season 6 will have to start filming only after the lockdown restrictions are lifted, there is still a lot of time before more details are released. As of now, we know for sure that the next series will be basketball.
What’s Last Chance?
For those who don’t know, the series follows college football teams that don’t get much national attention.
After a couple seasons of profiling recruits at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) which has won several NJCAA national titles, the reality series shifts its focus to Independence Community College (ICC).
The Kansas-based ICC is seen trying to rebound from over a decade of losses.
For the final season, we will be following the Laney Eagles who have a lot to prove after clinching the title of state and national champions in 2018. A center point of the final football season will be the powerhouse head coach John Beam who we will see going into his eighth season.
The coach has built the program from the ground up and must now fight to rally the team amidst countless setbacks. Season 5 brings intensity both on and off the field as players battle injuries, stress, and personal demons while finding much needed support in the community and taking pride in their scrappy mentality.
Having won the Emmy award from outstanding serialized sport documentary, the show has maintained a steady performance across its five seasons with the IMDb rating consistently above 8/10.
The series has been co-directed by Greg Whiteley and Adam Ridley while the outstanding musical score is by Yuri Tomanek and Joseph Minadeo.
