Recap of Episode 2

Now that break is over, Shiraishi wants to go to sleep like he usually does, but Kubo might see him this time, so he decides not to. However, when he looks to his left, he notices that she has already gone to sleep.

She teases him after P.E. period, and Shiraishi can’t stop thinking about her since she changed her look for class. The other girls have also started suspecting something since her mood was chirpy today.

The next day, Shiraishi is in front of the bookstore and tries to get the automatic door to recognize him and let him in. They go into the bookstore together as he gets the latest volume of one of his favorite manga series.

Kubo also wants to try it out and asks to borrow the first volume, they go over to his house, and she realizes they live close by. The following day, Kubo wakes up earlier than usual in order to match Shiraishi’s time of walking to school.

She experiments with new hairstyles and has breakfast with her sister. Her sister is brilliant as she quickly manages to figure out what’s happening and teases her even further, and she gets annoyed and runs out.

Kubo waits for Shiraishi around the corner and scares him, and he takes a moment in awe before walking with her to school. They are early, so they sit on the bench and chat.

They talk about their usual lunches, and Kubo finds some of her other friends, who conveniently overlooked Shiraishi again. The rest of his day usually goes utterly invisible to everyone, except Kubo who finds him again.

However, Shiraishi has lost his keys, and nobody’s home, so he decides to go to the park. But Kubo invites him to her house, since there isn’t anyone home either. Shiraishi takes a quick shower and goes back home in Kubo’s tracksuit.

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible is a manga by Nene Yukimori. It was first launched in the Weekly Young Jump magazine in October 2019. As of December 2022, eleven volumes have been released.

The series focuses on Junta Shiraishi whose presence is so negligible that no one notices him. He is basically ignored by almost everyone except his classmate, Kubo.

Kubo loves to tease him and occasionally makes him do weird things in class just to see if anyone would notice.
