Little Megumin is amazed by Wolbach’s magic and tells her to train her. Wolbach tells her that the magic she uses is called explosion magic, it is the most powerful, but she doesn’t recommend learning it.

In the present, Megumi’s father and mother prepare a very special dish because they did great business that day. They sold a precious item to a mysterious seller and earned a lot.

They buy Megumin a new uniform. She tells her parents that she wants to learn explosion magic. Her parents are quite surprised by this reveal.

 She gets enrolled in the magic school named Red Prison. Megumin meets Yunyun, who tells her she enrolled in the school to defeat Megumin.

One day, when the teacher was explaining different types of magic, Megumi pointed out that the texts don’t mention explosion magic. Her teacher tells her that it is magic with no practical application and is basically a joke.

Their teacher Pucchin takes them out for gym training. Megumin gets paired with Arue, while Yunyun gets paired with Pucchin. Everyone learns how to declare themselves, as that is the mastery of Crimson Demon combat.

Yunyun feels embarrassed to do the same. Megumin excuses herself from training, saying that she is not feeling well and the thing sealed inside her will come out.

It starts raining suddenly, and the principal’s favorite tulips start running away. The teacher instructs everyone to catch them. After all the chaos, Megumin and Yunyun wonder how any of this is educational.

Yunyun tells Megumin that she thinks explosion magic is not a joke. Megumin tells her not to get friendly as they are rivals. Back home, Megumin tries to copy Wolbach’s magic.
