It is time to reward some of the popular ongoing titles in 2022. Kodansha has just announced the nominations for their 47th Annual Manga Awards in three categories – Best Shonen, Best Shoujo, and Best General Manga.
Earlier, there was a “Children’s Manga” category as well until 2015, when Kodansha began to include entries from this category into shonen and shoujo.
Fifteen titles were shortlisted by Kodansha on Monday – five for shonen, four for shoujo, and six for general. The final winners will be announced on May 10.
Here are the nominated titles for the three categories:
Best Shonen Manga
1. Akane Banashi (Story by Yūki Suenaga, Art by Takamasa Moue)
2. Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku (Saka Mikami)
3. Gachiakuta (Kei Urana)
4. Shangri-La Frontier (Story by Katarina, Art by Ryōsuke Fuji)
5. Megumi no Daigo: Kyūkoku no Orange (Masahito Soda)
Best Shoujo Manga
1. My Girlfriend’s Child (Mamoru Aoi)
2. In the Clear Moonlit Dusk (Mika Yamamori)
3. Tamon’s B-Side (Yuki Shiwasu)
4. A Sign of Affection (Suu Morishita)
Best General Manga
1. Onna no Sono no Hoshi (Yama Wayama)
2. Skip and Loafer (Misaki Takamatsu)
3. The Darwin Incident (Shun Umezawa)
4. Manshū Ahen Squad (Story by Tsukasa Monma, Art by Shikako)
5. Medalist (Tsurumaikada)
6. Liaison: Kodomo no Kokoro Shinryōsho (Story by Yūsaku Takemura, Art by Yonchan)
In 2022, the following titles won the Kodansha Manga Awards in their respective categories:
- That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Best Shonen Manga)
- Nina the Starry Bride (Best Shoujo Manga)
- Police in a Pod (Best General Manga)
For Shangri-La Frontier, Skip and Loafer, and A Sign of Affection, it is their second consecutive nomination, as they were also selected in the previous awards event. Do you think they will manage to grab the award this time? Or will they be outshined again?
